Teachers

A teacher plays a crucial role in the early years of a child's life. Only a professionally qualified and trained teacher will be able to capitalise on the inquisitiveness of a child and enable learning and develop skills in an innovative manner. It is her shaping mind that helps children prepare themselves not just for the demands of the syllabus and examinations, but for the larger steps they will take in the real world outside the school.

At SERRA International, our greatest strength lies in the exceptional quality of our teaching staff. They are well qualified, experienced and have a deep understanding of children. At our pre-schools, the teacher's role is multi-faceted, as they play the role of an observer, facilitator and listener, and constantly challenge the child to think beyond the conventional. To ensure individual attention, we maintain a very healthy teacher child ratio which is 1:10. Furthermore, as teachers don the dual role of care givers at pre-school level, they are trained in First-Aid and perform daily health checks for every child.

At SERRA International, our teachers play a key role in maintaining an in-depth portfolio for every child where their process of learning is recorded and shared with parents. The portfolio contains photographs, work samples, art works, and other material that tell the story about the child's activities, thinking, questioning and learning. Our teachers utilise the records as a tool for research and continuous improvement. With the help of documentation and display of children's work, our teachers make learning visible to the community at large.

In an effort to provide the best teaching practices to children, our teachers are frequently offered opportunities for professional development. Our core training team has received extensive mentoring from international faculty of EtonHouse Group. We ensure that they are confident and well equipped to teach children of the 21st century and are responsive to the needs and concerns of young parents.
